Helmut Stallearts is a Belgian born artist who studied painting at Sint-Lukas Academie in Brussels, Belgium and the Academy of Fine Arts in Dusseldorf, Germany. He won the Young Belgian Art Prize in 2013 and was a ING People's Choice Award Laureate in 2013. Helmut Stallearts is mainly a contemporary painter, although he does occasionally work with other mediums such as photographs and films. Helmut Stallearts has previously done installations as well, such as Pan Optic from 2007 and The Tower from 2012. The majority of his work features man as the central figure, but man is generally alienated, blurred or blocked by something. For an example of this, look to his painting The Blind, in which five blindfolded men lead each other to the precarious edge of a wooden platform. Helmut Stallearts' artwork has recently been on display at the Albert Baronian fair booth at the Art Brussels show in both 2014 and 2015. Before that, he participated in a group show at Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens. Less
