Artist Biography : Rogelio Polesello
Rogelio Polesello was an Argentinian artist best-known for his geometric paintings that used optical effects to decompose the many images he created. Polesello studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón in Buenos Aires, Argentina, graduating in 1959. His wealth of ability was made apparent as, just two years later in 1961, his art was featured in a solo exhibition at the Pan American Union, Washington. Rogelio Polesello continued to be featured in solo exhibitions in art galleries across the Americas during his decades-long career. In fact, it was not until 2005, some 44 years later, that his final solo exhibition was held in Buenos Aires.Just as his works sought to explore new and interesting forms of geometric expression that were not easily categorized, Polesello himself cannot be placed into a specific artistic movement. This is due in part to the fact that in addition to his decades of painting, he also created works of “architecture, environmental design, textile design, body painting, and interventions in public space.” These were produced on a variety of mediums including “paintings, prints, and acrylic objects.” Rogelio Polesello’s works are housed in many of the finest galleries in the world. His geometric designs and use of optical effects engaged his audiences and displayed his unique talent to create works of art that challenged both the mind and the spirit. Less
