Walter Neidermayr, born in 1952 in Bolzano, is an Italian photographer. He started his work in 1987 with a series called 'Alpine Landscapes.' The Alpine Landscapes have been used to form a book compiled of his pictures, which are some of the most beautiful ski slopes in the world. Neidermayer says the pictures remind him of growing up in Italy. Like all of his photographs, they are presented in serial form, and not just single photos. Walter Neidermayr’s memory of snow covered mountains is one without tourists and skiers. He points of the changes in the mountains due to tourism and shows a fascination with how people change the landscape of the world. He prides himself on the temporal shifts, various perspectives and the overlapping layers of his work. He is focused on investigating space that is shaped and occupied by people. Walter Neidermayr’s other works include the Space Con Sequences of 1991, the Shell Constructions of 1997, the Artifacts Series of 1992, and his Image-Space series in 2001 which focus on the development of architecture in the environment. From 2005 to 2008 he worked on the series 'Iran.' Walter Neidermayr received an appointment at the University of Bolzano as the Professor of Fine Art Photography at the Faculty of Design and Art. He currently lives and works in Italy, but still attends several International Exhibitions all over the world. Less
