One of the most recognizable artists of the 1960's was undoubtedly Andy Warhol. Based in the famous Factory in New York, he is known as the most important and influential artists in the Pop Art movement. Andy Warhol began his career as a commercial artist drawing shoes for advertisements. His favorite artistic medium was painting, especially using the paint drip technique; but he also worked heavily in other mediums such as blotted ink, which were also known as mono prints, oxidation painting, as well as drawing, silk screening, film, and photography. Andy Warhol is known for painting simple and every day objects with bold and bright colors. His most famous works were created in the 1960s and include a portrait of Marilyn Monroe titledBlue Marilyn, (1962),Campbell's Soup I which portrayed a simple soup can (1968), andTriple Elvis,(1963).
