Born in the United States in 1970, Anne Collier is one of the pioneer female photographers of her generation. Formally trained at UCLA and CalArt, Collier began her art career in 2001. She describes her style as still life, but it is her subject matter that makes her photography stand out from others. Influenced by several artists of the 1970's and 1980's, known as the Pictures Generation, Anne Collier focuses on pop art and social inequality.

Her feminist approach is clearly evident in her artwork. Her subjects are pop art pieces such as old album covers, movie posters, magazine covers, as well as existing photographs. Set on a monochromatic background, the pieces tell a story within a story. Most of Collier's artwork portrays the sexual degradation of women through the eyes of men who gawk and leer.
