Original Signed Artworks & Limited Edition Prints For Sale

Ellsworth Kelly is an American artist who expresses his vision through the mediums of painting, sculpture and printmaking. A member of the minimalist school of art, Kelly is also viewed by some as being a part of the surrealist movement.

« When I see a white piece of paper, I feel I've got to draw. And drawing, for me, is the beginning of everything.»
– Ellsworth Kelly
Introduced by his grandmother to birdwatching as a child, Ellsworth Kelly eventually developed a hard-earned painting style. Known for his simplicity of form, he is often compared with fellow artists, John McLaughlin and Kenneth Noland. In developing his artistic style, Ellsworth Kelly was heavily influenced by Louis Aggassiz Fuentes and John James Audubon.

« My forms are geometric, but they don't interact in a geometric sense. They're just forms that exist everywhere,
even if you don't see them.»

– Ellsworth Kelly

Ellsworth Kelly began his artistic studies at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. From there he went on to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and also at the Ecole National Superieure Beaux-Arts in Paris. Ellsworth Read More

What is Surrealism?

What is Surrealism?

Surrealism began in the 1920s with artists and writers whose works aimed to reveal the unconscious to unleash subconscious imagination, and explore unusual imagery. Bringing the unconscious into rational life was one key thematic goal of this group influenced by Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis theories.
