Mamma
Andersson

Original Signed Artworks & Limited Edition Prints For Sale

Widely recognised for her pastoral, ethereal art, Mamma Anderson is a contemporary Swedish artist, inspired by her rural upbringing. Anderson’s most distinguishing trait throughout her work is arguably her incorporation of various other works by notable artists; Stairway to the Stars is perhaps her most notable work of this kind – the piece is comprised of an array of canvases, appearing to float upwards against a dark sky and mountains, and features works by Hopper, Monet, Gauguin and Manet.

« I think the color is close friend of the psyche, a kind of mode. »
Mamma Andersson
Anderson has cited John-Erik Franzen and Dick Bengtsson as major influences on her work, as well as her native roots – she stated: “My style follows a very Nordic painting tradition: landscapes, interiors, relationships, and dramas.”

«As an artist I live in a continuous contact with art history, you could say that it is other artists that gives me impulse and energy. »
Mamma Andersson

She is also particularly inspired by film and theater, often employing a stage-like setting for her works, a technique that she describes as ‘absurd’ but somehow still able to ‘buy into’.

What is figurative art?

What is figurative art?

Sometimes known as Figurativism. It particularly describes sculptures and paintings clearly or specifically derived from sources of real objects hence they are representational as the name suggests "figurative art". This term is often used as a contrast for abstract art. However, since the coming of abstract art, this term has been used to mean any form of modern art with strong references to the actual/real world situation.
