Original Signed Artworks & Limited Edition Prints For Sale

A major figure in artistic development between 1955 and 1965, Paul Van Hoeydonck is the creator of the only piece of art to have a permanent place on the moon – Fallen Astronaut, a 3.5 inch aluminium structure, was designed as a tribute to all of the astronauts who have died throughout the history of space exploration;

« I never did an academy, I'm a self-made man, maybe that's why ... It seems like they never liked my art. »
Paul Van Hoeydonck
the figure was placed on the moon in secret by astronaut, David Scott, alongside a plaque bearing the names of fourteen astronauts, all of whom had died in service.

« every now and then I get tired and then there is a branch and that branch then becomes mutants or that becomes something else: that is my tree. »
Paul Van Hoeydonck

Hoeydonck was associated with the influential Zero group, and his friends included fellow artists such as Lucio Fontana and Heinz Mack. Hoeydonck’s artistic output has spanned across several different styles – his earliest works included monochromatic collages, he then later began to create oil paintings using vivid, vibrating colour schemes. (Artist website) Read More
