Stanley William Hayter is an English painter specializing in the use of printmaking mediums. He is most notable for his innovations with viscosity printing movement, which uses a process of laying oil-based inks of multiple colors on an intaglio plate.

Hayter was an active painter in his time, participating heavily in the Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism movements. Aside from his major works in viscosity printing, Stanley William Hayter also dabbled with engraving, collage-making, drawing, and traditional painting. Many of his well-known images are known for presenting messages and central themes that were advanced for his time.
