Tara Donovan studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York, at Corcoran College of Art and Design, and at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is widely characterized as going against the flow of the art community with all of her work, and so she has earned quite a name for herself.

In Tara Donovan's work, the generative style of art is truly embodied. Her works are sculptures made from processed materials that are often everyday items. Her sculptures are known for being incredibly intricate, and often have naturally occurring patterns throughout.

What is minimalism?

A style in music and visual arts that uses designs that are pared-down. It began in Western art after world war II strongly in the American Visual arts. Minimalism greatly derives modernism aspects and is often seen as an anti-Abstract Expressionism and to some extend, a connection to the practices of post minimal art. Some of the prominent artists are Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris,Frank Stella and Dan Flavin.
