Sound Art

Artistic discipline where sound is used as a medium. Like the other contemporary art genres, Sound Art is interdisciplinary in its nature. It can engage with a wide range of subjects that include electronics, acoustics, noise music, psychoacoustics, audio media, video or film and sculpture among other subjects. Early examples of sound art include Luigi Russolo's noise intoners and other experiments done by surrealists, Dadaists and happenings of Fluxus among others.

Brutalism

Brutalism is the term used to describe the 1950s and 60s architectural style which used raw concrete construction to build block like forms as the basis for buildings. The style was often used in public housing and public buildings, featuring massive geometric concrete facades.

Gestural

Gestural is a term which describes painting with freely sweeping brush strokes. The main goal of gestural art was to allow the artist to physically portray emotional impulses. Viewers were thought to understand inner artistic thoughts revealed through the varied, yet expressive paint marks.
