What does recto/verso mean?
Recto / Verso are terms used in two ways. They can mean the right and left hand pages of an open book, or they can mean the front and back of a paper. Right and front are recto, while left and back are verso.Image © Antonio Gravante/Shutterstock
A visual art style that makes use of optical illusions. The works of opt art are abstract and many of the known pieces are the black & white. They typically give a movement, vibrating patterns, flashing and hidden images impression to the viewer. Op art antecedents can be traced back with respect to color effects and graphics to Futurism, Constructivism, Dada and Neo impressionism.
Art Intervention is art which is intended to interact with an existing situation, structure, artwork, audience, or institution. Interventions became popular in the 1960s, as artists sought to effect change in political and social contexts. Artist-in-residence programs were inspired by this art movement.
Arte nucleare was the name of a Milan artist group founded in 1951. The group sought to make art which responded to the dangers and technology of the nuclear age. Their works proposed using automatic techniques, and included devastated landscapes and renderings of bomb clouds.
