What is a replica?

Replica is the term used to describe a copy of an artwork. This type of copy is so well done that it is almost impossible to distinguish it from the original art piece. Artists often make replicas of their own work.

Appropriation

The use of images or pre-existing objects with application of little or completely no transformation to them. It has played a very significant role in the history of visual, musical, performing and literary arts. In visual arts for instance, to appropriate means properly adopting, sampling, recycling or borrowing aspects(even entire form) of artificial visual culture.

Capitalist Realism

Capitalist realism is a German form of political pop art which sought to challenge the influence American pop art had developed in the Western world. The Cold War era Berlin movement began in 1963, and represented the ideologies of both pop art and socialist realism.

Woodblock printing

Woodblock printing is a technique which uses a carved wooden surface to make an image on materials such as paper and cloth. Ink or paint is spread thinly over the carved surface. The wood surface is pressed against the material, which transfers the image.
