What is an original artwork?

Original artwork is art which comes directly from the personal inspiration and creativity of an artist. It cannot be directly copied from another artist’s work, though it may be inspired by it. The subject matter can be the same, but it cannot be exactly copied. It may also refer to a unique piece (opposed to a multiple/edition)

Kitsch

Kitsch is the term used to describe cheap, commercial, sentimental or vulgar pieces common to popular culture. It is the English use of a German word which actually means trash. Kitsch has described the opposite of high artwork since the 1920s.

Screen-print

Refers to a print produced through a printing technique in which a ink is transferred using a mesh to a substrate safe for those areas blocked with a stencil to make them impermeable to ink. Screen prints are usually made on posters, T-shirts, vinyl, stickers and wood or any material usable for this purpose. Screen printing is also a method of stencil printing and is sometimes known as serigraphy, serigraph printing, screen or silk screen.

Chinese Contemporary art

Chinese Contemporary art is characterized by a profusion of styles and experimental tendencies. Avant- garde exhibitions in the 1980s were closed by government officials, while 1990s political pop and cynical realism emerged. China’s One Child policy also inspired the individual as subject matter.
