What is art fabrication?

What is art fabrication?

A process that relates to production of technically difficult or large artworks. It happens when a designer or lone artist is unable to realize a creation of conception or design of his or her own and seeks assistance in a fabrication studio. Such a studio has access to specialized machinery, resources and the necessary labor required in order to excellently execute complex art projects.

Tapestry

Tapestry is a heavy handwoven textile which features complicated designs or images woven into the fabric. Tapestries are art pieces woven by skilled weavers using natural wool, linen, cotton, silk and silver and gold threads; used as decoration, insulation, and symbols of authority.

Aquagravure

Aquagravure is a technique combining several processes; including compressing wet paper pulp in a carved wood mold until the water runs off, painting the compressed paper, adding ink to the mold to print onto the painted paper, and allowing the entire work to dry.

Intaglio

Intaglio is a printing technique where a design is created by incising beneath the surface of stone or metal plates. Only the depressions are inked and the plate surface is wiped clean. An etching press transfers the ink to the paper.
