What is Assemblage?

Assemblage is the French word for the artistic process of putting together three dimensional objects to create a work of art. Artists often use found objects, such as leaves or stones from nature, discarded items or recycled materials, to assemble in a creative, interesting way.

Actionism

Short-violent art movement in the 20th century. Can be regarded as a major part of the many independent struggles and efforts to build the "action art" in the 1960s. Well known participants of this movement were Arnulf Rainer and Hermann Nitsch.

Drawing / Watercolor

Drawing and watercolor are two traditional art techniques which stand alone as media, but are often used in conjunction with each other. Drawing can create the basic outlines for watercolor painting. Drawing over dried watercolor or using watercolor pencils are combined media techniques.

Art Informel

Art informel refers to gestural techniques and improvisatory methods common to abstract painting during the 1940s and 50s. It is a French term for the many styles that dominated these decades. Artists use this term because these styles were based on primarily informal techniques.
