What is cement?

Cement is any variety of mixtures of clay, limestone, water, sand and gravel which forms concrete to be used as material for building things. To cement also means to join or unite. In art, cement can mean the process of gluing securely.

Feminist art

Refers to the art that branched from the feminist art-movement between the years 1960-1970. It grew with the intention of criticizing the 20th century gender ideals including the canon of art history by creation of dialogue between artwork and the viewer through feminist lens.

Actionism

Short-violent art movement in the 20th century. Can be regarded as a major part of the many independent struggles and efforts to build the "action art" in the 1960s. Well known participants of this movement were Arnulf Rainer and Hermann Nitsch.

Mono-Ha

Meaning "School of things" Mono-ha originated in Tokyo in the mid-1960s. Instead of traditional artwork, the artists of Mono-ha made use of the different materials and their various properties in their works to show dismay for the industrialization that was occurring in Japan at the time. The movement ended up gaining international attention and is a widely-respected form of art.
