What is pastel?

Art medium in a stick form that consists of powdered pigment and binder. Pigments used for pastes are the same as those used in producing art media(colored). Pastel's color effect is closely similar to dry pigments than the effects of any other related process. Artworks produced using pastels are called pastel painting, pastel drawing or simply pastel. Pastel can also mean the production of artwork using pastels.

American Abstract Artists (AAA)

American Abstract Artists (AAA) is the name of the organization founded in New York City to promote abstract art and its appreciation in the United States. Critics were strongly opposed to abstract art then. The AAA provided exhibit opportunities for abstract art and artists.

Readymade

Readymade is the term Marcel Duchamp used to describe his artworks made from objects which were manufactured. The French artist first used the term, and artists who work similarly now use it. Duchamp chose functional objects which he felt had visual indifference.

Cracking Art Group

Italian art movement that comprises of artists from Italy, Belgium and France known for creation of public installations that include use of recyclable plastic to make massive animal sculptures. The artwork examines and signifies the rupture that exists between synthetic and natural worlds with plastic construction symbolizing synthetic world and the animals referring to the natural world.
