What is plaster?
Plaster is a mixture of heat treated and powdered gypsum. It is mixed with water to make a solid sculpture, cast in a mold, carved, modeled and attached to other materials. Artists have used plaster for working models and finished artwork for centuries.Image © Suslov Denis/Shutterstock

A movement in modern German painting, it's the third generation and relates to how Germany today post-reunification looks like. The movement for the new Leipzig school is linked to people like Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. Unlike the first generation of Leipzig paintings, the third generation do not have clear characteristics and messages. Instead, the paintings are a combination of figurative and abstract elements, making creativity come to the forefront.
Comic strip art uses the subject matter and commercial printing techniques common to comic strips. A group of 1960s artists created art paintings which incorporated Ben-Day dots used in comics and advertising to create highly graphic designs in bright colors using traditional art media.
A visual art style that makes use of optical illusions. The works of opt art are abstract and many of the known pieces are the black & white. They typically give a movement, vibrating patterns, flashing and hidden images impression to the viewer. Op art antecedents can be traced back with respect to color effects and graphics to Futurism, Constructivism, Dada and Neo impressionism.
