What is Réalités Nouvelles?

Réalités Nouvelles means new realities. It is the focus of an exhibiting society founded by Sonia Delaunay, in 1939, in Paris. The Salon des Réalités nouvelles promoted the concept that abstract art does not imitate existing reality, and therefore is a new reality.

Printing method based on the principle that water and oil cannot mix. It may be used for printing artwork or text onto a paper or any other suitable material for printing. Originally, an image drawn using wax, fat or oil onto a lithographic limestone surface or plate was used.

Oil on paper

Oil on paper is a technique which allows painters to use economical paper without the need to use primer before painting. Some are able to combine oil paints with solvents to achieve watercolor effects such as color washes with thinned paint, spattering and mingling colors.

Silkscreen

Silkscreen is a method for making prints using a screen made of silk or some other mesh fabric. The screen is prepared with a substance which only allows the ink forced through it to print in selected areas. Each color used needs a separate screen.
