Who are the Neue Wilden?

Who are the Neue Wilden?

Neue Wilden is the term German artist used for neo-expressionism. In the 1970s and 80s, expressive painting emerged once more in the country, and artists embraced the intense colors and broad brushstrokes used. The movement grew in opposition to minimal and conceptual art.

Sand

Sand is loose grains of material primarily made of quartz, mica, feldspar and other minerals and rocks. Sand paintings are made by pouring colored sands into designs; often for cultural rituals and special celebrations. The designs take many days to complete, and finally brushed away.

Monoprint

Single impression belonging to an image made out of a block that is re-printable. Litho stones, wood blocks or metal plates are used for the purpose of etching upon. Only one impression is produced rather than producing several copies of one image. Mono-printing has many techniques that include etching, lithography and woodcut.

Assemblage

Assemblage is the French word for the artistic process of putting together three dimensional objects to create a work of art. Artists often use found objects, such as leaves or stones from nature, discarded items or recycled materials, to assemble in a creative, interesting way.
